I almost forgot...

A while back, the Mind Eraser boys went to go see MASTER. Yeah, it was awesome... and just as cool as their set is this post-gig exposure we took with Paul Speckmann as he was gracious enough to "pose" (dare I say that word in the same sentence!!!) with a couple of rejects like us. A TRUE salt of the earth guy, thanks again brother...

HERE SHE IS...

I'm sure week 1 was rough for all you Patriot's fans but alas, there's no need to fear...I have decided to give all five of you the gift that will last you long after the season is over...that of course is the old NFL on CBS theme. Back in the early 90's before I knew what moshing was I would practically smash my head open every Sunday afternoon when this came on. Not only is it the greatest theme song in the history of sports but it could also be the greatest song ever written. The recording quality is kind of shitty but we should all be eternally grateful to the guy who uploaded this onto the youtube.

NOCTURNAL RITES "PROMO" 1992

Pre-power metal. Same style song structures as on their first demo "The Obscure" but what really makes these two songs so special are the strange and hypnotic guitar melodies. To be honest with you, I've never really heard anything like them. It sucks they never released anything else in this vein because they were onto something really cool and creative.

1. To Find The Paradise
2. I Am Lost

CRYPTIC TALES "ANATHEMA" 1992

Poland's Cryptic Tales... Their first full length "Anathema" is a release you probably haven't heard much about, at least I haven't. A few years back my friend Daryl (kind of a big deal) sent me this and I was shocked... "Progressive death metal" I guess you could say but to my ears it just sounds like brutal tuned down DM with somber leads and hints of keyboard/acoustic interludes that add to the mood. I heard their later shit is more on the blackened death metal side but I haven't heard any of it.

1. Anathema
2. In Grave Rotting Is Slowly
3. Live In Vinnless
4. Putrid Mutants
4. Steeple Of The Nightmare
5. Voices Inside The Beast

CRYPT OF KERBEROS "DEMO" 1991

Another one of my favorites. Sludgy, brooding Swedish death metal with really deep sounding vocals that didn't sound like the Nihilist and Dismember clones that were sprouting up at the time. By far their best stuff in my opinion...

1. Sacrifice
2. Armageddon
3. Devastator
4. The End Of Time

DEW IT

DISGRACE "INSIDE THE LABYRINTH OF DEPRESSION" DEMO 1990

The second demo from one of my favorite Finnish death metal bands. 3 of the 4 songs were re-recorded for the "Grey Misery" album, but these versions are way more brutal. These mp3s were ripped from a tape and while the actual recording doesn't seem very lo-fi, the sound quality isn't so great. Of course, it gives it that old school DM demo charm but if someone could let me know if the original demo tape sound quality is any better I'd appreciate it...

1. The Chasm
2. Transcendental Dimension
3. Unity's Interlude Dies Blind Tomorrow
4. Waves of Hypocrisy Seas

DISGRACE "BEYOND THE IMMORTALIZED EXISTENCE" DEMO 1990

One of my favorite demos ever. Brutal and doomy death metal only the Finnish can deliver. Face it my fellow Americans, its not in our DNA.

1. Beyond The Immortalized Existence
2. Offering
3. Deprive My Innermost Soul
4. Ingrained Reign
5. Absurd Ascension
